The first planting of vines was started in 1999. Valiant Grapes,
Frontenac were planted. Additional Frontenac, Valiant,
and wild grape vines from western South Dakota have since been
planted. Currently nearly 2 acres is planted to these varieties.
Schadé Vineyard works closely with area producers around the state.
Chokecherry and Plum trees were planted in 2001 with additions
of Rhubarb and Raspberry plants.
Wine
production in 2001 was over 300 cases, in 2004 wine production
reached 1,800 cases. As production increases it is our goal to
have our wines available at several retail
outlets.

Tawny North America's upper Great Plains richly provides the ingredients that are blended to make this after-dinner wine. Grapes picked in the early Fall from prairie vineyards; elderberries gathered from river ravines; dark honey coaxed from South Dakota’s world famous bee colonies, make this a wine like none other.
It is recommended to refrigerate all wines
after opening.
